This privacy policy explains what personal information Sports-Betting.nz collects, why we collect it, who handles it and what rights you have. We handle personal information in line with New Zealand’s Privacy Act 2020 and its information privacy principles.
In short: we collect very little. You can read the whole site without creating an account or giving us your name. We do not use Google Analytics, advertising trackers or behavioural tracking, and we do not run a newsletter.

Who is responsible for your information
Sports-Betting.nz is represented by the website’s owner, who is responsible for the personal information collected through the site.
If you have a question about this policy or about your information, please use our contact page.
What personal information we collect
We collect information in two ways: when you choose to contact us, and automatically when the site is delivered to your browser.
Information you give us when you get in touch
If you contact us, we receive whatever you choose to include, which is usually your name, your email address and the content of your message. Please do not send us sensitive details, such as financial or health information or details of a betting account.
Technical information collected automatically
When you visit the site, the servers and security systems that deliver it process technical data. This includes your IP address, browser and device type, the pages requested, the date and time, and the referring page.
This data is used to deliver pages, keep the site secure and diagnose faults. We do not use it to build a profile of you or to follow you across other websites.
Cookies
The site uses only cookies that are necessary for it to work. Because of that, we do not show a cookie banner.
- Cloudflare may set a security cookie that helps tell real visitors from automated traffic.
- LiteSpeed Cache may set a technical cookie so that cached pages are served correctly.
- WordPress sets cookies only for people who log in to administer the site, which does not apply to ordinary visitors.
We do not use analytics cookies, advertising cookies or social media tracking cookies. You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings, and the site’s content will still be readable.
Embedded content and external links
Some pages include videos embedded from YouTube. When you load or play an embedded video, YouTube (a Google service) may collect data about you and set its own cookies, in the same way as if you had visited YouTube directly.
The site also links to other websites, including gambling operators, and some of those links are commercial links. Once you follow a link, the other website’s own privacy and cookie practices apply. We do not pass your personal information to those websites.
Why we collect and use your information
We collect personal information only for purposes connected with running the site.
| Purpose | Information used | Why it is needed |
|---|---|---|
| Replying to messages and correcting errors | Name, email address, message content | To deal with what you have asked us |
| Delivering the site | IP address, browser and device data | To send pages to your browser |
| Security and fault-finding | IP address, request logs | To block attacks and abuse and to fix problems |
| Understanding search performance | Aggregated search data that does not identify individuals | To see which pages appear in Google Search |
We do not sell personal information, and we do not use it for direct marketing.
How long we keep your information
We keep personal information only for as long as it is needed for the purpose it was collected for.
- Messages are kept until the matter is dealt with and for a reasonable period afterwards in case of follow-up, then deleted.
- Server and security logs are held by our service providers for short periods under their own retention settings and are then deleted or anonymised.
- Cookies expire automatically or when you close or clear your browser.
You can ask us to delete a message you have sent at any time.
Sharing your information and our service providers
We share personal information only with the service providers that make the site work. They handle it on our behalf and for the purposes described in this policy.
- Hetzner Online GmbH (Germany) hosts the site on servers in the European Union. See the Hetzner privacy policy.
- Cloudflare, Inc. (United States) provides content delivery and security, and processes technical request data as traffic passes through its network. See the Cloudflare privacy policy.
- Google provides Google Search Console, which shows us aggregated statistics about how the site appears in Google Search. It does not tell us who individual visitors are. See the Google privacy policy.
We may also disclose information where the law requires it.
Sending information overseas
Our service providers are based outside New Zealand, so the technical information described above is processed in Germany, elsewhere in the European Union and the United States.
We use established providers that are subject to privacy laws or contractual safeguards, and we take reasonable steps to make sure your information is protected to a standard comparable to that of the Privacy Act 2020.
Security
We take reasonable steps to protect personal information against loss, misuse and unauthorised access. These include encrypted connections (HTTPS), a web application firewall, restricted administrator access and regular software updates.
No website can promise complete security. If a privacy breach occurs that has caused, or is likely to cause, serious harm, we will notify the Office of the Privacy Commissioner and the people affected as soon as practicable, as the Privacy Act 2020 requires.
Your rights
Under the Privacy Act 2020 you have the right to:
- ask whether we hold personal information about you
- ask for a copy of that information
- ask us to correct it if you think it is wrong, incomplete or misleading. If we do not agree to make a correction, you can ask us to attach a statement of the correction you asked for.
To make a request, use our contact page. We will respond as soon as reasonably practicable and no later than 20 working days after receiving your request.
Complaints to the Privacy Commissioner
If you are unhappy with how we have handled your personal information, please contact us first so that we can try to put it right.
If you are not satisfied with our response, you can complain to the Office of the Privacy Commissioner, New Zealand’s privacy regulator. Complaints are free, and the Office explains the process on its making a complaint page.
People under 18
The site is about betting and is intended for adults aged 18 and over. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18.
If you believe a person under 18 has sent us personal information, please let us know through the contact page and we will delete it.
Changes to this privacy policy
We may update this policy when the site, our service providers or the law changes. The current version is always published on this page, with the date it was last updated shown at the top.
